The Peace Field at Flamingo — Cultivating Community Currency

Featuring “Bee Wise”by wildlife photographer, Dr. Quentin Felty

As part of the ongoing initiative, creating ecosystems where pollinators can thrive; our current activities underway at Flamingo Rd. & Pembroke Rd., is only but one facet of a long-term cooperation framework for engaging communities across S. Florida with peaceful innovations; in promoting the enduring vitality of nature’s magnificent little pollinators.

“Bee Wise” the remarkable image of the owl and the bee by wildlife photographer, Dr. Quentin Felty — using his lens to frame this enduring narrative around the wonders of nature; we are beckoned once more to be mindful of the value of our pollinators.  So, we are asking the support of all our creative stakeholders and sponsors, to help get our peaceful innovation off the ground.

Pollinators are struggling: They don’t have enough flowers to feed on. While there are often abundant nectar and pollen sources in the spring, life gets pretty tough for our winged friends in the summer months. Habitat fragmentation and changes in agriculture have eliminated most of the food sources for bees and butterflies. So while pollinators provide us with every third bite we eat, much of our agricultural heartland has become a food desert for bees and butterflies.

Here are a few ways to contribute:

  • Design: Everyone has something to contribute — unique ideas and talents that can move the “peace fields” forward.
  • Donate: All contributions are greatly appreciated.
  • Volunteer: Sow a seed and watch it grow.
  • Sponsor: Plant your stake

What we need:

  • Garden Supplies (tools and materials)
  • Plants and soil
  • Irrigation system
  • Kiosk/Presentation stand
  • Tables, Chairs and Tent
  • Signage

#1 Manley P. Hall Quote

When it comes to the protection of the living, there are many things for us to think about — for in our little man-made philosophy, we have often forgotten that God made world — we have forgotten the divine right of flowers, and the divine right of beasts; we have forgotten that all living things fashioned by the love and wisdom of God — have their rights, their privileges — and that we as the leaders of them, have our responsibilities and our duties.

#2 Exgtract from Heilung

Remember, that we all are brothers. All people, beasts, trees and stone and wind. We all descend from the one great being — that was always there. Before people lived and named it— before the first seed sprouted.
